  Liebe Segelfliegerfreunde!   Dear glider friends!

Gliding season is slowly declining here in Europe, the weather is offering a foretaste of the coming autumn at the moment. The right time to sit down and give you some information about what’s going on.

As we mentioned in our last newsletter the Romanian Team Andreas Kessler and Ronald Reith were flying our Arcus M “TWO” at the WGC in Räyskälä. With remarkable success: placing 7th overall, and they could have been 3rd if there wouldn’t have been this forbidden airspace in their way on day 2, already before start. But “could” and “wouldn’t” doesn’t count in a competition – they did a good job and assured they had great fun, despite the winter-like weather – and that’s the main goal! Congratulations from our side - from the Austrian point of view, we are happy that they made room on the podium for the team Achleitner/Rass. At this occasion also congratulations to you, Guido and Mich!

After a short stop in Austria, we brought the Arcus M to Livno. Unfortunately, Bosnia-Herzegovina was not lucky with the weather this summer. When it finally turned flyable, our regular customer Milan Petkovic (with co-pilot Uros Krasovic from LX-Nav) had to notice that the engine-starter failed. We want to express our appreciation to them for all their effort. After an unsuccessful attempt to repair the starter on-site, they brought the Arcus to Aeroservice Lesce Bled instead of having a relaxed gliding holiday. To reimburse the charter-fee for this week was the minimum we could do for compensation and a symbolic “thank you guys”…

Rang erflogen. Gratulation!

Recently Martin Furjes was taking part in the Slovak Nationals in Prievidsa with our Arcus M. Marginal weather allowed only five flying days. He and his co-pilot Zuzana Hrncirikova may be proud about a remarkable 6th place in the final results. In the weak conditions, it definitely wasn’t an advantage to fly an Arcus in the mixed class with handicapped scoring. Congratulation!

In addition, our Antares 23E did satisfy its pilots in two championships: Stefan Senger flew the qualification for the German Nationals in Bayreuth, and Eric Heinonen from Finland, usually hard to beat in 18m-class, could show his and the 23E’s world-class level at the WGC in Leszno. Ending up 12th, he only moved out of the top ten on the last day – congratulation Eric!

September geplant.

Now it’s time to look into near future!

Our 2nd Arcus M, with competition-id “1”, is ready to pick up at Schempp-Hirth. There are still some small obstacles to pass for the registration in Austria, but we will take them. After some test-flights at Hahnweide we will bring it directly to Koblenz for packing the containers. This is planned for 8th/9th of September. This time four gliders from Rent-a-Glider and two from Christian Hynek (streckenflug.at) will fill one of Bernd Dolba’s containers (2 Arcus M, 1 Arcus E, 1 Antares 23E, 1 ASH25, 1 HPH 304 MS Shark). Yes, also our faithful Arcus E will be there again, now we are happy that it’s still available due to the strong demand we have (especially in Namibia)! To make things easier for us next time, this container will be shipped directly to Austria after this winter.

Wieder dabei:

Janusz Centka, POL, 3x Welt- 2x Europameister
Steve Jones, GBR, 2x Weltmeister
Holger Karow, GER, 2x Weltmeister
Uli Schwenk, GER, 1x Europameister

Wolfgang Janowitsch, AUT, 1x Welt- 3xEuropameister

Neuzugänge:

Olivier Darroze, FRA, 2x Weltmeister
Brad Edwards, AUS, 1x Weltmeister

Pete Harvey, GBR, 3x Europameister

Preparations for „Flying with the Champions“ are getting more intensive, many last minute customers require flexibility from us, and especially from the champions. Despite we are almost fully booked again, we decided to suspend this event for the next season. Logistic effort and financial risk are not in relation to the acceptance. If someone decides quickly, we can accept one more pilot in each week! At this stage, we would like to say thank you to our coaches! The whole team this time:

again:

Janusz Centka, POL, 3x World- 2xEuropean Champion
Steve Jones, GBR, 2x World Champion
Holger Karow, GER, 2x World Champion
Uli Schwenk, GER, 1x European Champion
Wolfgang Janowitsch, AUT, 1x World- 3x European Champion

Newcomers:

Olivier Darroze, FRA, 2x World Champion
Brad Edwards, AUS, 1x World Champion

Pete Harvey, GBR, 3x European Champion

We are looking forward to a week of intensive training, intensive talking and intensive enjoying!

Till then we wish all our readers still some more interesting flights in Europe!
